About us

Association of Hungarian Orchestras
The Association of Hungarian Symphonic Orchestras was founded by 13 orchestras in 1993 with the purpose of ensuring the proper representation of symphonic orchestras, both within the country and abroad. The Association fulfils the further task of coordination between orchestras and the cultural government as well as facilitating the flow of information between orchestras, communicating the news and events of musical life via various channels, for instance, by publishing its own periodical under the title "Orchestra". The Association is represented by a five-member board whose members are the following: chairman Géza Kovács, secretary general Péter Popa, board members, Péter Szabó, György Lendvay and Gábor Baross. The Association is member of the Hungarian Musical Council, PEARLE (Performing Arts Employers Associations League Europe) and IAOA (The International Alliance of Orchestra Associations).
